Scope Homecoming: Magdalena Bay & The 502s
Graphic Design - Promotional Campaign
This series, created for the University of Iowa’s 2024 Homecoming Show, co-headlined by Magdalena Bay (an up-and-coming, chart-trending synth-pop duo) and The 502s (a folk band known for their upbeat and friendly sound). The goal was to design a cohesive visual identity that celebrated both artists’ contrasting styles while maintaining a unified promotional look across all platforms. The campaign included digital signage around campus, social media graphics, A-frame posters, handbills, and full-size print posters.

To visually represent both artists, I built the color system around purple and orange—vibrant hues that symbolized the energy of Magdalena Bay and the warmth of The 502s. Together, they created a striking palette that also tied naturally to October’s (as the concert was during this season) fall and Halloween themes, instantly catching attention across campus. I wanted the design to feel exciting and inclusive, appealing to fans of both genres while still feeling distinctly like a Homecoming event.
I focused on creating consistency across all deliverables while adjusting compositions to fit each format—from wide digital screens to vertical posters and handheld flyers. Bold typography and clean layering helped balance the intensity of the color palette and maintain readability. The final series captured the spirit of the event: unexpected, energetic, and unified by community and music.
