GGTC X Barn Town Brewery
This commissioned advertising piece was created for a local Iowa City–based tailgating club that has been supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes and local brewers since 2011. Designed for both social media and print display at tailgate events, the graphic promoted the club’s collaboration with Barn Town Brewery, an Iowa-based brewing company known for its creative IPAs. My goal was to design a piece that captured the excitement of game day while celebrating local pride and partnership.

I wanted the design to feel energetic and deeply tied to the club’s game day culture. The background features Kinnick Stadium, the home of the Hawkeyes and backdrop of the club’s gatherings, setting the tone with a strong sense of place. To emphasize the collaboration, I gave both the tailgating club and Barn Town Brewery logos prominent placement so the partnership was instantly recognizable. I also added a cascade of IPA cans to showcase Barn Town’s variety and bring motion and excitement into the composition.
After experimenting with several tagline ideas, I landed on “You bring the energy, we bring the beer,” which perfectly captured the shared enthusiasm between fans and brewers. I paired this with a call to action announcing Barn Town’s return in November, ensuring the design not only drew attention but also drove engagement. The final piece balanced bold typography, visual movement, and brand storytelling—creating a design that resonated both online and in person at the tailgate.
